Technology Today…

The power in your hands

Cyberspace – the new Wild, Wild West

Cyberspace is the 21st Century’s Wild, Wild West. We’ve built Cyberspace and its great – the Internet and global communications systems let you do almost anything (including reading this blog, and listening to Technology Today), but its almost completely unsecured. And right now, the outlaws (organized crime & government-backed hacker groups) have the advantage over the sheriff’s men (law enforcement and the security directors at organizations with large online presence) and we’re all waiting for the cavalry.

One of the consequences of this is that governments are moving to engage in militaristic conflicts through cyberspace – what we call Cyber War. Public comments by government officials aside, the United States is engaged in an active cyber war with enemy nations on an ongoing basis.

As a result, the Pentagon is actively performing cyber war training exercises and this Thursday, we’re joined by Tom Patterson, a widely recognized expert in cybersecurity, to discuss and shed light on these efforts; what it means for the future of web-based communications systems, eCommerce and the Internet in general.

If you use the Internet in your business or any part of your daily lives, you will want to listen to this episode. Join Us and share your thoughts on what America needs to do to protect ourselves from cyber attack. Tune in Thursday at 4pm Eastern to the VoiceAmerica Business network.
